Hearth: Home Inventory for iPhone — how-to guides and answers to common questions.

Getting started

How do I add an appliance?

  1. Open Hearth and tap the button to add an item.
  2. Point the camera at the appliance's nameplate — the label with the model and serial number on it. Take the photo in good light and fill the frame with the label.
  3. Hearth reads the label and fills in a category and brand for you. Check them, and edit anything that looks wrong.
  4. Add anything else you want to keep: model, serial number, room, purchase date, price, notes, UPC.
  5. Save. Hearth creates a maintenance schedule for the item and sets up reminders.

Everything on the item is editable afterwards, so you can correct the category, brand, or any other detail at any time.

Maintenance and reminders

How do I change the maintenance schedule?

  1. Open the item you want to change.
  2. Open its maintenance tasks.
  3. Choose a task and edit it: change how often it repeats, or move the next due date.
  4. Save. The next reminder for that task follows the new schedule.

You can also add a task of your own, delete a task you do not want, or mark a task complete after you have done the work. Completing a task schedules the next occurrence.

How do I cancel or silence reminders?

Turning reminders off never deletes your items, schedules, or logs — it only stops the notifications.

Your account and data

How do I delete my account and all of my data?

  1. Open Hearth's Settings.
  2. Tap Delete Account and confirm.

Deletion removes your account, your items, your photos, your maintenance tasks and repair logs, and your notification token, and it revokes the Apple sign-in grant for Hearth. It is immediate and cannot be undone — we cannot restore your data afterwards.

You can also email support@taomindapp.com to request deletion of your account and data.

Troubleshooting

I'm not receiving notifications

A recall match looks wrong

Recall matching is based on brand and category, not on an exact model or serial number. That means a match can appear for a unit that is not actually affected, and a real recall can be missed if the brand or category does not line up.

Low-confidence matches are shown in the app but are never sent to you as push notifications, so anything you were notified about is a closer match — but still worth checking. To dismiss a match you do not think applies, open the item, find the recall entry, and dismiss it.

Always check the official recall notice at https://www.saferproducts.gov before you act on a match.
